Rep. Juan Vargas, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 52th district, has recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing economic and immigration issues linked to the Trump Administration. Rep. Vargas, who succeeded Bob Filner in 2013 and resides in San Diego, voiced concerns about policy decisions that he believes are detrimental to families and immigrants.

On April 8, 2025, Rep. Vargas expressed his discontent with the economic impact of President Trump's tariffs, stating that "Trump's tariffs are the biggest tax increase on families in decades. The markets are spiraling. Trump promised an economic boom — he's pushing us towards a recession."

The following day, April 9, 2025, Vargas criticized the administration's action regarding international students. He stated, "Our international students bring so much to their campuses and communities — revoking their visas without warning or explanation is absolutely unacceptable. This is yet another attack on immigrants by the Trump Administration. We need answers NOW."

On April 10, 2025, Vargas highlighted the troubling case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, stating that: "Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a father. A husband. A legal resident. The Trump Admin wrongly deported him to a prison in El Salvador with NO DUE PROCESS and called it an 'administrative error'. Yesterday, I joined his family to demand his return and demand justice. #BringKilmarHome"

Vargas's comments reflect his ongoing focus on immigration and economic issues, topics that resonate with his work in Congress.
