Rep. Juan Vargas, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 52nd district, recently shared his perspectives on various political issues through a series of tweets. Vargas, known for his tenure since 2013 after replacing Bob Filner, used the platform to express concerns about policies affecting both American citizens and undocumented immigrants.

On April 8, 2025, Rep. Vargas took to social media to voice his concerns regarding the actions of Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump. He stated, "Elon Musk and Trump are making it harder for Americans to get the benefits they've EARNED...Social Security is a lifeline for millions and they're putting it in jeopardy. Hands OFF!"

Later that day, he addressed the issue of taxation and trust with the IRS involving undocumented immigrants. Vargas highlighted their contributions, noting, "For decades, undocumented immigrants have trusted the IRS when it encouraged them to file. They've paid taxes in good faith, contributing nearly $100 BILLION per year and supporting social services they can't even access. Not only is this a total betrayal, but it's also..."

In another tweet from the same day, Vargas critiqued Trump's tariff policies. He emphasized the negative economic impact, saying, "Trump's tariffs are creating chaos. And they're a textbook example of the kind of regressive tax that will be felt most by the people who have the least. My opening remarks at our Task Force on Monetary Policy, Treasury Market Resilience, and Economic Prosperity hearing "
