Representative Juan Vargas, who has served California’s 52nd district since 2013, made several statements concerning recent legal and economic issues via social media. His comments highlight the importance of due process and critique recent tariff policies.

On April 4, 2025, Vargas expressed relief over a recent court decision: " A judge just ordered Trump to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a father with legal status who was deported in 'error' to a Salvadoran megaprison, to the US. In America, we have due process. While I'm glad to see today's ruling, this should have NEVER happened to begin with."

On April 6, 2025, Vargas critiqued tariff policies, warning about economic repercussions: "No strategy, no plan, just chaos. Trump is single-handedly driving prices up and pushing us towards a recession with these tariffs. Time for Congress to act."

On April 7, 2025, Vargas asserted the necessity of legal due process: "The United States Government has no legal authority to snatch a person who is lawfully present in the United States off the street and remove him from the country without due process. Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia must be reunited with his family."
