Representative Juan Vargas, a U.S. Congress member from California's 52nd district, has recently expressed strong opposition to policies he attributes to former President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. Through a series of tweets, Vargas criticizes these figures for decisions he claims negatively impact social services and government efficiency.

On March 10, 2025, Vargas tweeted his concerns about budget cuts affecting critical areas. He stated, "Trump and Elon Musk aren’t cutting waste and abuse. They’re cutting cancer research, firing veterans, slashing the Social Security Administration, and threatening to destroy the Department of Education – all to support their billionaire donors." He described these actions as wrong and affirmed that efforts are being made to counteract them.

In another tweet dated March 11, 2025, Vargas reiterated his stance on protecting social welfare programs. He wrote: "I’m standing with our seniors and families to say: HANDS OFF SOCIAL SECURITY. Trump and Musk are trying to gut Social Security, firing workers and closing field offices. That’s not 'government efficiency'. That’s an attack on people's earned benefits."

Later that day, Vargas addressed legislative developments concerning financial allocations linked to Elon Musk's ventures. On March 11, 2025, he posted: "The House GOP is trying to pass a bill that gives a blank check to Elon Musk and DOGE while cutting services families count on." He pointed out the control Republicans have over the legislative branches and declared his opposition by stating: "I'm a no."
