Rep. Juan Vargas, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 52nd district, has recently shared his views on several key issues through social media posts. His statements reflect his positions on government benefits and monetary policy.

On March 3, 2025, Rep. Vargas expressed concern over potential threats to Social Security and Medicaid by prominent figures such as Donald Trump and Elon Musk. He stated that these actions are not about increasing governmental efficiency but rather represent "a back-door cut to your earned benefits." He affirmed that efforts are underway to counteract these changes. "First, Trump and Elon Musk came after Medicaid — now they’re coming after SOCIAL SECURITY."

The following day, March 4, 2025, Rep. Vargas emphasized his commitment to certain economic principles during his opening remarks as Ranking Member of the Task Force on Monetary Policy, Treasury Market Resilience & Economic Prosperity. He reiterated his dedication to defending core principles such as the Federal Reserve's dual mandate and its independence. "I plan to defend my core principles... My belief in the importance of the Fed’s dual mandate and the need to protect the Fed’s independence.”

On March 5, 2025, Rep. Vargas joined over 200 House Democrats in sending a message opposing cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid directed at Speaker Johnson and Republicans. He underscored the importance of preserving these programs without reductions."I joined more than 200 House Democrats to send a clear message to Speaker Johnson and Republicans: No cuts to Social Security."
