Rep. Juan Vargas, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 52nd district, has shared a series of tweets expressing his views on various national issues. Vargas, who succeeded Bob Filner in 2013 and has an extensive background in California politics, took to social media to voice his concerns and support for specific causes.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. Juan Vargas expressed concerns about Elon Musk's influence over significant financial resources and personal data access. "Elon Musk is an unelected billionaire with his own financial motives and interests," he tweeted, emphasizing that Musk should not have control over "$6 trillion in Treasury payments and millions of people’s personal data." Vargas stated that they are "fighting back with every tool at our disposal."

The following day, on February 4, 2025, Vargas highlighted the importance of immigrants to the United States economy and society. "I’m the proud son of Mexican immigrants," he tweeted, recognizing immigrants as essential workers such as nurses, construction workers, and small business owners who contribute significantly by working hard and paying taxes. He referenced "A Day Without Immigrants" as a powerful reminder of these contributions.

Later on February 4, Vargas criticized the Trump Administration's alleged plans concerning migrants. "Sending migrants to Guantanamo Bay – a place notorious for human rights violations – is dehumanizing and cruel," he wrote. He described this action as an attempt by the administration to operate without oversight and advocated for shutting down Guantanamo rather than expanding it.
