Rep. Juan Vargas, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 52nd District, expressed strong opinions through a series of tweets addressing recent political events. Vargas has been serving in Congress since 2013, after succeeding Bob Filner, and previously served in the California State Assembly and Senate.
On March 25, 2025, Rep. Juan Vargas criticized the actions of former President Trump's senior officials regarding war plans. He stated: "Trump's most senior officials were texting actual war plans in a group chat - and they didn't even know who all the numbers were! How reckless and stupid can you be? Everyone involved in this fiasco should resign or be fired immediately."
In another tweet on March 26, 2025, Vargas called for immediate resignations following comments from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the alleged texting of war plans. He wrote: "Defense Sec Pete Hegseth: 'Nobody's texting war plans' Hegseth, Waltz, and everyone involved must resign immediately or be fired."
Later that day, Rep. Vargas addressed concerns over Social Security in connection with Trump and Elon Musk. He tweeted: "New reporting confirms it: Trump and Elon Musk are breaking Social Security. This isn't 'government efficiency' it's sabotage. We'll keep fighting back against these attacks. HANDS OFF Social Security!!"
