Federal judge blocks Trump's funding freeze; Rep. Juan Vargas reacts

Rep. Juan Vargas, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 52nd district since 2013, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. His tweets covered topics including a federal judge's decision regarding former President Trump's funding freeze and advice for DACA recipients.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Vargas tweeted about a federal judge temporarily blocking Trump's funding freeze, describing it as "unconstitutional." He expressed relief at this development but emphasized the need for continued vigilance: "NEW: Trump's unconstitutional funding freeze was temporarily blocked by a federal judge. Grateful to see this short-term relief, but we can't let up. If this order were to take effect, it would have a devastating impact on families across the nation."

The following day, on January 29, he addressed DACA recipients with urgency in his tweet: " Attention DACA recipients: Renew your DACA as soon as possible! DACA recipients are still able to apply to renew their protections. I remain committed to fighting for DACA recipients & their families." He provided further resources through a link included in his post.

Later that same day, Vargas reiterated his message for Spanish-speaking audiences with another tweet encouraging prompt action from DACA beneficiaries: " Atención recipientes de DACA: ¡ Renueve su DACA lo más pronto posible! Los beneficiarios de DACA todavía pueden solicitar la renovación de sus protecciones. Sigo comprometido a luchar por los recipientes de DACA y sus familias."
