CITY OF IMPERIAL: Coronavirus Relief Fund - Utility Bill Delinquency Grant Program

City of Imperial recently issued the following announcement.

The County of Imperial is partnering with the cities of Brawley, Calipatria, Calexico, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial and Westmorland to provide assistance for households delinquent on water, sewer, and trash bills.  Funding is provided by the Imperial County Coronavirus Relief Fund.

To be eligible for this program, participants must be below median income of the County of Imperial.  Median income individuals/households may qualify for utility payment assistance by providing adequate documentation of termination of employment or reduced working hours due to the recent Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19). Eligible expenses are those occurred between March and November 2020.  Participants must also certify that the household income does not exceed the income limits established for Imperial County as noted below.

Maximum Income by Number of Persons in Households:Maximum Assistance per family size:
Families of 1-3 persons – up to $63,650

Families of 4 or more persons – up to $77,750

Families of 1-3 persons – up to $750

Families of 4 or more persons – up to $1,000

How To Apply:

  • Complete & Sign Application
  • Valid ID for City Utility Account Holder
  • Copy of Past Due Utility Bill (City can assist)
  • Proof of personal financial impact due to COVID-19 between March-November of 2020
    • Proof of Lost Job - Copy of EDD Application, Termination Notice, Etc.
    • Proof of Reduction in Hours - Notice from employer
