He stated, “I’ll always work to protect the rights of #CA52 residents. No matter your immigration status, know your rights if you ever have an encounter with an immigration enforcement agency like ICE.”
In a subsequent tweet on the same day, Rep. Vargas reiterated this message in Spanish to reach a broader audience within his district. He wrote, “Siempre trabajaré para proteger los derechos de los residentes de #CA52. On January 21, 2025, Rep. Vargas further expanded on this theme by discussing locations that should remain free from immigration enforcement activities. He expressed his view that essential service providers such as schools, places of worship, and hospitals should not be used as sites for immigration enforcement actions.
