Born in National City, California in 1961, Vargas has been vocal across platforms on matters ranging from military losses to economic policies and cross-border commerce improvements.
On April 16, 2025, Rep. Vargas expressed his condolences in response to a tragic military incident involving Marines from Camp Pendleton. “I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of two Marines from Camp Pendleton, and I’m praying for a full recovery for the third service member who was injured in this crash. My thoughts are with their families and loved ones.”
The following day, on April 17, 2025, Vargas addressed economic concerns, particularly criticizing former President Donald Trump’s administration regarding monetary policies. He stated, “The Federal Reserve’s independence is critical to the health of our economy. If Trump doesn’t like the fact that his chaotic tariffs are hurting growth and raising costs, then he should reverse course. These attacks won’t change reality.”
On April 18, Vargas tweeted about an infrastructure improvement that aims to enhance cross-border trade efficiency, specifically highlighting the Otay Mesa East port of entry project. He remarked, “This port of entry will help reduce wait times for everyone crossing the border & make sure binational commerce can move more efficiently. Our delegation has worked to support this vital project every step of the way & I’m looking forward to a fully operational Otay Mesa East.”
Vargas, who currently resides in San Diego, continues to engage actively with his constituents through his social media platforms on relevant national issues.
