Juan Vargas, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 52nd district, has been vocal about several pressing issues on social media. With a history of service in the area since 2013, Vargas utilizes his platform to address policy concerns and community events.
In a tweet from April 29, 2025, Congressman Vargas criticized House Republicans for attempting to approve a budget proposal he claims would severely impact Medicaid, also known as Medi-Cal. Vargas underscored the importance of this program by noting that “1-in-4 residents” in San Diego County depend on it, expressing commitment to “protect access to care.”
On April 30, 2025, Vargas addressed another legislative concern: the defunding of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). He highlighted that the CFPB had provided “$21 BILLION in relief to over 200M Americans” by tackling deceptive financial practices. Vargas assured his constituents that efforts were being made in the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services to “protect this critical watchdog.”
Later the same day, Vargas reminded his district’s high school students about the approaching deadline for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. He encouraged students to submit their artwork by 5 p.m. to his office in Chula Vista, noting his anticipation to see “the incredible artistic talent” within his district.
Juan Vargas, born in 1961 in National City, California, continues to live in San Diego, dedicating his efforts to his district since assuming office following Bob Filner in 2013.
