Rep. Juan Vargas, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 52nd district, recently shared his views on significant national issues through a series of tweets. Vargas, who succeeded Bob Filner in 2013 and resides in San Diego, has been vocal about matters ranging from constitutional rights to healthcare policies.
On May 17, 2025, Rep. Vargas expressed his approval of a Supreme Court decision with the tweet: “The Supreme Court just reaffirmed that everyone in this country – including immigrants – has the right to due process. It’s not a suggestion. It’s in the Constitution.” This statement underscores his commitment to upholding constitutional rights for all individuals within the United States.
Two days later, on May 19, 2025, he conveyed his personal sentiments regarding President Biden’s health situation by tweeting: “I’m deeply saddened to hear of President Biden’s cancer diagnosis. My prayers are with President Biden, Dr. Biden, and family as they navigate this challenging time. Wishing him strength and a swift recovery.” His message reflects empathy and support for the President during a difficult period.
Later that day, Vargas criticized proposed legislative measures by former President Trump and House Republicans with another tweet: “Trump and House Republicans’ ‘big beautiful bill’ would pay for tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires by slashing health care and food assistance for working families. There’s nothing beautiful about making people sicker, poorer, and hungrier.” This comment highlights his opposition to policies he perceives as detrimental to lower-income Americans.
Vargas was born in National City, California in 1961 and is currently 62 years old.
