Hugo Tafoya pitches for Lenoir-Rhyne in NCAA D-II matchup on Feb. 28

Hugo Tafoya, a former Southwest High School standout and current player for the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears, took the mound Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. as his team fell 8-6 to the Catawba Indians in an NCAA Division II baseball game.

The contest was held at Durham Field. This game marked the teams’ second meeting of the season. Their previous matchup Friday, Feb. 27, saw the Bears win 5-3.

Tafoya gave up three earned runs over five innings, walking three and striking out three.

The Bears are set to play again Saturday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. when they face the Catawba Indians once more at Durham Field.
